Broughton House, High Street, Kirkcudbright

We are privileged to be able to hold our Talks in the charming and elegant Gallery in Broughton House, High Street, Kirkcudbright, courtesy of the National Trust for Scotland. The attraction of such an impressive venue can help encourage nationally-recognised Authors to accept our invitation.

Broughton House, the Edwardian home and studio of ‘Glasgow Boy’ E.A. Hornel, sits in a Japanese-inspired garden, hosts a large display of Hornel’s paintings, as well as those of his Scottish contemporaries, and sculptures by Rodin. Hornel’s vast library and archive includes one of the world’s largest collections of works by, and about, Robert Burns

The Society is in the fortunate position of being able to use Broughton House facilities. Previously, this has been without charge, and in return we gave a donation to the National Trust for Scotland (NTS) for specific use at Broughton House. Times have changed, and we now pay a fee of £500 for the use of Broughton House for the six talks.

It is important to know that there is a seating capacity of 56 at the venue (Health & Safety regulations), and as such it is essential to book a seat. Members have priority booking, and visitors – space permitting – are welcome.
