The Stewartry Literary Society had the pleasure in welcoming Andrea Thompson DL to our Summer Party in Broughton House, Kirkcudbright, to officially launch the Website and the Programme for 2024-25.
Andrea Thompson is the award-winning editor of the multi award- winning Dumfries & Galloway Life magazine. A journalist for more than 30 years, she is also a presenter with the Dumfries-based, volunteer-run community radio station, Alive 107.3, and an event host.
A Deputy Lieutenant for Dumfriesshire, Andrea is a Rotarian (Rotary Club of Dumfries); a trustee with Queen of the South Community Trust, and a member of the board of Dumfries & Galloway Arts Festival. She has been a director of Dumfries & Galloway Chamber of Commerce, an advisor with Young Enterprise Scotland, and was a baillie for Dumfries’s Guid Nychburris for three years.
Andrea is an active member of The Theatre Royal Dumfries Guild of Players, and loves treading the boards at Scotland’s oldest working theatre, last seen as Fay in Sheila’s Island in April 2024, her recent roles have included a detective (The Girl on the Train, 2023); a life drawing model (Sitting Pretty, 2022), Elaine Navazio in Last of the Red Hot Lovers (2020), and clairvoyant Madame Zareza in A Spot of Murder (2019).
