The Stewartry Literary Society
The Society offers stimulating monthly afternoon events in a friendly atmosphere in Broughton House, Kirkcudbright, when there is an opportunity to hear published Authors and other Speakers give talks on a wide variety of literary topics. These range from novels to historical writing, drama, crime and contemporary issues.
We are privileged to be able to hold our Talks in the charming and elegant Gallery in Broughton House, Kirkcudbright, courtesy of the National Trust for Scotland. We also hold a biennial Summer Party in Broughton House.
There are six Talks, held on the second Wednesday of the month (September, October, November, December, February, and March). They begin at 2.30pm and last one hour. Tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided afterwards.
The Society has proved to be increasingly popular over the years and has a strong membership. On this website you can find out about our Programme of Speakers, previous Speakers, and view the gallery of photographs and posters. In sharing a love of literature, we are always pleased to welcome new members. Membership guarantees free entry to each of the six afternoon Talks.
And should you wish to join, click on our ‘Membership’ page. Membership runs for one year beginning in August.
Capacity allowing, visitors are welcome at £7 for entry, and are asked to email beforehand.
